Cleansing Crystals
Good morning beautiful souls. I took the time to cleanse my crystals and prepare them to recharge their energy on the next full moon over the weekend.
Just like us, crystals can take on the mood and energy of what is around them or if we have been working with particular crystals they will need to be cleansed and recharged. Many crystals absorb and neutralise negative energy and help cleanse our space so it is important that we look after their energy as well.
To help our crystals do this wonderful work, we need to ‘cleanse’ them of any unwanted energy they may have been absorbing. To do this I prefer to either put my crystals in a bowl of brown rice; or I will use sage to smudge them or a White Sage Spray. (Available instore or on our website if you don’t have any). Another method of cleansing I use is sound or more specifically I use singing bowls in the shop as a good way to quickly cleanse the space but also all of the crystals. Using these methods you can be sure the crystal is cleared without any risk of damage to the crystals.
Often you will hear of people soaking their crystals or washing them to cleanse them. However I do not use water at all to cleanse crystals - some crystals are soft and can disintegrate when soaked in water due to their cellular structure. Crystals are made of different minerals and most crystals do not like water some of these are either water-soluble or react with water making the crystals break apart or rust or lose its lustre.
All Crystals like a night on your window sill soaking up the moon rays to charge and re-energise them.
I do not leave crystals in the sun as crystals come from the earth and prefer more subtle light rather than the harsh direct light from the sun. The sun can also damage your crystals causing them to lose their shine, making them cloudy or fade.
If you are ever unsure, come and see me, or message me and we can help you with a particular crystal's needs.
Crystal Blessings, Susan
